Huawei Mate 90 Pro

A 12,000-nit display sounds like the biggest story of the Huawei Mate 90 Pro. But that is only where the twist begins. Behind its 6.75-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED sits the upgraded Kirin 9035 chipset. Meanwhile, the camera system features a variable-aperture 50MP main sensor and 4x periscope zoom. Surprisingly, Huawei also packs a 6,600mAh battery with 100W wired charging into this phone. Add IP68/IP69 protection & HarmonyOS 7.0, and the Mate 90 Pro becomes far more than another flagship on paper.

Key Features of Huawei Mate 90 Pro

The Huawei Mate 90 Pro packs more than a few headline specs. From its ultra-bright display to its powerful camera system, each part offers something useful for everyday use.

Design & Build

The Huawei Mate 90 Pro takes a tough sandwich-style build. Third-generation Kunlun Glass protects the front, while a metal frame sits in the middle and a nylon-fiber panel covers the back. The phone weighs 222g and measures just 8mm thick, giving it a solid flagship feel without becoming overly bulky. Notably, Huawei added IP68/IP69 protection, so the phone can handle dust and high-pressure water jets.

Display

The Mate 90 Pro features a 6.75-inch dual-layer LTPO OLED display. This crisp display features a 120Hz refresh rate & supports 1 billion colors. Also, 1440Hz PWM dimming provides smoother viewing. The headline feature is its claimed 12,000-nit peak brightness. Huawei measures this figure during video playback. So it should not be treated as the phone’s normal full-screen brightness.

Performance & Gaming

Powering the phone is the HiSilicon Kirin 9035 chipset with a Maleoon 935 GPU. Huawei claims that the updated chip improves overall performance by around 20%. That gives the Mate 90 Pro more room for demanding apps, multitasking, gaming, and AI features.

The GPU also supports hardware ray tracing and can render up to 31 million rays per second. In practice, this can provide more realistic lighting, reflections, and shadows in supported games.

Camera

The camera setup is one of the Mate 90 Pro’s biggest highlights. It gets a 50MP main camera with a large 1/1.28-inch RYYB sensor with a switchable f/1.4-f/4.0 aperture. The wider f/1.4 setting lets in more light. Meanwhile, varying the aperture gives users more control over the look of photos.

The 50MP periscope telephoto camera adds 4x optical zoom with OIS. It can also focus as close as 5cm, allowing macro mode for detailed close-ups. Huawei also added a third-generation multispectral sensor for improved color and image processing.

Battery & Charging

The Mate 90 Pro packs a 6,600mAh battery, which is notably large for a flagship phone. Huawei claims the phone can play videos for up to 41 hours continuously on a single charge. When the battery reaches its lowest point, 100W wired charging can bring it back quickly. It also supports 50W wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, and 18W reverse wired charging.
